Ingram Micro Systems Down Worldwide: Cyberattack Suspect

Written by Adriana Aguilar | Jul 4, 2025 5:21:37 PM

Ingram Micro, one of the biggest names in the world of technology and business solutions distribution, is experiencing a global outage that has taken its website and several of its internal systems offline. The lack of official information about what is happening has led many customers to wonder if it could be a cyberattack.

The company, which has about 24,000 employees and generated nearly $48 billion in revenue in 2024, offers all kinds of tech solutions: hardware, software, cloud services, logistics, and specialized training for resellers and managed service providers around the world.

Fear of possible cyberattack after global system outage at Ingram Micro

The problem began on Thursday morning, when users noticed that the Ingram Micro website was completely offline and they were unable to place orders or access their accounts. It later emerged that the outage affected not only customers but also employees, who were also unable to access certain internal systems.

Currently, when attempting to access the Ingram Micro website, users encounter a generic restricted access message or a maintenance screen, both generated by Akamai, the network service provider used by the company.

So far, Ingram Micro has not provided details about the cause of this outage, which has increased concern among its partners and customers worldwide. Many are wondering whether this is a major technical failure or whether it could actually be something more serious, such as a cybersecurity incident.

Several Ingram Micro customers commented on Reddit that the company has not given any official explanation about what is happening, and apparently, even the employees are unclear about what is going on.

Some users said they heard rumors about a possible cyberattack (there is even talk of ransomware) as the cause behind the outage. However, there is no confirmation that this is true at this time.

What is clear is that the outage has been going on for quite some time and that internal systems remain down, which is often a red flag when it comes to more serious security incidents.

For now, the company has not made any public statements, so we will have to wait to find out what really happened.
