Improvements in Microsoft 365: Copilot and Outlook Keep Growing

Microsoft continues to strongly invest in AI-powered productivity. In its latest roadmap, the company shared several upcoming features for Microsoft 365 users. The updates will directly impact key tools such as Outlook, Copilot, Edge, and Teams.

What's New in Microsoft 365?

Outlook: Simple Yet Very Useful Improvements

The new Outlook for Windows continues to evolve, and this month brings a long-awaited feature: you can finally attach files even when you're offline! It’s such a basic function that it’s surprising it wasn’t available before.

And that’s not all. Two more updates are coming in August:

  1. Custom desktop alerts, which you can configure with your own rules.

  2. Warnings when deleting folders with active rules, helping prevent the accidental loss of important functionality.

These improvements aim to make Outlook more intuitive and reduce common errors. The new version is gradually taking shape, although some questions still remain.

Copilot Gets Smarter with Better Context

Copilot, Microsoft’s AI assistant, keeps getting better. This month introduces a very handy feature: it can now show smart summaries of the latest changes and comments in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files—before you even open them! Perfect for catching up without wasting time.

There are also enhancements to Copilot Chat, which can now limit its responses to specific sources, such as SharePoint sites or particular documents. This means more accurate and focused answers, which is especially useful for business-related tasks.

In PowerPoint, the AI can now help you rewrite parts of your text or even add new slides to a presentation, maintaining the same visual style so everything looks consistent and professional.

Edge and Teams Also Get Upgrades

The Microsoft Edge browser will soon allow Copilot to view multiple open tabs at once, making it significantly more useful for multitasking. Ideal for those who work with dozens of tabs open simultaneously.

In Teams, improvements are coming to Teams Rooms Pro, which will now be able to display town hall events and webinars simultaneously. The best part: presenter controls will remain hidden from attendees, making for a cleaner and more professional viewing experience.

Conclusion

Microsoft 365 keeps adding new features. While some rollouts are slow or come with caveats (like Outlook’s limited IMAP compatibility), the direction is clear: more automation, more contextual awareness, and more practical assistance. Time will tell if all this arrives as scheduled, but Microsoft’s roadmap is certainly promising.
