Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud: May 2025 Updates

Written by Zoilijee Quero | Jun 2, 2025 6:22:28 PM

What if your next backup were smarter, more secure, and easier to manage? That's exactly what the latest version of Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud C25.05 offers. It's no longer just about saving data “just in case”: now we're talking about backups that integrate with official APIs such as Microsoft 365, agents that register with two-factor authentication (2FA), and intelligent diagnostics that help you solve complex disaster recovery problems, such as site-to-site VPN failures.

This new version is not just another technical improvement: it is a real response to the challenges IT teams face every day. In this article, we will tell you what's new in version 25.05, why it is important, and how you can make the most of these improvements in your business.

What's new in Acronis Cyber Cloud 25.05?

Backup: now compatible with the Microsoft 365 API

Good news for those who work with Microsoft 365: Acronis now supports its backup API. What does this mean in practice? You can make direct backups of Microsoft 365 every 10 minutes, using your own storage, without relying solely on Acronis data centers. This gives you a more flexible option, which can even coexist with the backup system you are already using.

In addition, this integration allows for faster and more frequent batch backups and recoveries for mailboxes, OneDrive files, and SharePoint sites. Basically, your data is better protected and much more accessible.

Easier registration with accounts that use 2FA

If you use two-factor authentication (2FA) on your cloud accounts, registering Acronis devices is now much easier. You no longer have to go through the complicated process at the command line.

Just generate a temporary password from the console (yes, one of those single-use ones), enter it into the device's graphical interface, and you're done. This applies to environments such as VMware, Nutanix, oVirt, Virtuozzo, and Scale Computing. Easier, faster, fewer headaches.

Built-in diagnostics for VPN issues in disaster recovery

When something goes wrong with your site-to-site VPN, finding the cause can be frustrating. But now there's a diagnostic tool built right into the Acronis VPN device image.

The best part? You can access this tool directly from the interface, just like any other action. This helps you resolve common issues without having to rack your brain over manual configurations or seek immediate technical support.

Remote Desktop: Simpler Activation in Acronis RMM

Activating Remote Desktop is now faster and more convenient. If you try to connect to a device and see that it doesn't have a remote management plan applied, you no longer need to leave the screen and search elsewhere.

You can create and apply that plan right there, without pausing what you're doing. It's a small improvement, but it saves time and keeps your workflow uninterrupted.

New Acronis Cyber Cloud integrations: now with Kaseya VSA 10

Integration with Kaseya VSA 10 is now available! For those using this new version (also called VSA X), which is now based on Pulseway, Acronis has developed a completely new integration to ensure everything works seamlessly.

What can you do with this integration? Quite a lot:

  1. Create and configure new customers directly from VSA 10.

  2. Install the Acronis agent and automatically assign a protection plan.

  3. Monitor the protection status of devices.

  4. Easily run tasks from the same platform.

In short, everything is more connected, faster, and without unnecessary complications.

CyberApps alerts connected to your ticketing system

Another super useful improvement: CyberApps alerts can now be mapped directly to the ticket systems of your RMM or PSA tools. Yes, you no longer have to juggle between platforms.

How does it work? It's very simple, you just have to do two things:

  1. Enable the ticket creation option in your RMM or PSA integration.

  2. Choose which types of alerts you want to automatically generate tickets.

Once you've done that, every time a CyberApp generates an alert, a ticket will open in your system. And the best part: everything syncs, even if the alert is closed or you need to reopen the ticket later. This way, your technical team can act faster and without missing anything important.

Updated components: New versions of the Acronis agent

If you already use Acronis Cyber Protection, we're happy to announce that the agents have just received a fresh update. These are the new versions available:

  1. Windows: v.25.05.40077

  2. Mac: v.25.05.4007

  3. Linux: v.25.05.40077

Want to review the complete version history or see exactly what has changed? You can check it out in the agent release notes.  So if you're managing computers with different operating systems, it's worth updating to take advantage of the latest improvements and fixes.

Issues that have already been resolved

With this new version, Acronis has fixed several annoying bugs that could affect the user experience. Here is a summary of what has already been fixed:

Antivirus and antimalware

An issue has been resolved where full scans ended with a confusing warning saying that “the protection service is not responding.” This should no longer happen, nor should you need to restart your machine for no reason.

Backup

  1. On Linux, backups of volumes encrypted with md-crypt were failing due to invalid parameters. Fixed.

  2. Backups on 32-bit Windows XP machines should no longer fail with errors due to missing libraries.

  3. A discrepancy in the console was corrected, where cloud storage usage showed different values depending on where you viewed it.

  4. A somewhat cryptic error was also fixed: “Error 0x01350016: TOL: Command could not be executed.” It should no longer interrupt backups.

Reports

  1. Some scheduled reports were not being sent as expected. This has now been resolved.

  2. Exporting to ZIP was failing due to a timeout issue. Fixed.

  3. An error where the administration portal said “no data available” even when there was data has also been fixed. It should no longer get stuck there.

Protection agent

  1. LVM and LDM disk backups completed successfully but displayed an unnecessary warning about the disk structure. This no longer appears.

  2. If a file name contained the “&” symbol, the system could not find it. This issue has been resolved.

  3. On some Linux virtual machines, after updating the agent, a connection error to port 80 appeared. This has also been fixed.

Data loss prevention

If you were using Windows 11 24H2 and had data loss protection enabled, the system would sometimes crash after connecting and disconnecting a USB device. That issue has now been resolved.

Email security

Authentication errors were fixed when Advanced Email Security attempted to connect to PerceptionPoint. The annoying “access_denied” message should no longer appear.

Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace protection

When backing up SharePoint sites, a strange warning sometimes appeared: “Error processing change event.” Fixed.

Virtualization

Backups on ESXi virtual machines with OVHcloud were failing with a generic “unknown error” message. This has also been fixed. So if you encountered any of these issues, you will most likely no longer see them after updating.

Conclusion

As you can see, the new version of Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud 25.05 not only fixes bugs and improves performance, but also adds key features that make your day-to-day work easier, safer, and more efficient. From faster and more secure backups in Microsoft 365 to improved integrations with tools such as Kaseya VSA 10, Acronis continues to evolve to provide you with a comprehensive and reliable solution.
