The latest Acronis update, released on March 28, 2025, incorporated a number of key enhancements that reinforce its commitment to data protection, advanced management and comprehensive cybersecurity. New features include advances such as restore via WinRE with restart, email archiving for Microsoft 365, and EDR support for Linux workloads, which take data security and recovery to a new level.
Relevant integrations such as connection to Fortinet and a new VPN gateway based on Rocky Linux 9 have also been added, expanding options for secure connectivity and disaster recovery.
But the enhancements are not limited to the technical infrastructure. The Acronis management and support ecosystem has also evolved: it now includes features such as direct chat between technicians and remote users, recurring ticket creation and new capabilities in the automation system that improve communication across recipients.
If you use BitLocker on your Windows computers and also have Acronis protection, there is an important change you should be aware of. With this new update, the Startup Recovery Manager may conflict with BitLocker, and when you restart your computer after updating the agent (either manually or automatically), it will ask you for the BitLocker recovery key.
To avoid having to enter that key every time, it is best to suspend or disable BitLocker before upgrading the agent. Once the update is finished, you can reactivate it without any problem. This saves you unnecessary hassle.
Acronis now includes a new email archiving feature for Microsoft 365, ideal for companies that need to easily save and access their communications, whether for legal issues, compliance or just to have better control. With this feature, you can:
Protect historical emails and continue to automatically archive all new emails that come in or go out.
Search, preview and retrieve emails directly from the archive.
Another very useful new feature is that you can now do remote restores with reboot using WinRE, the Windows recovery environment. This is super handy when working with newer computers that are sometimes not recognized by Linux-based recovery environments.
What if for some reason WinRE doesn't boot? No problem: the system automatically switches to the Linux environment to complete the recovery. You can also decide yourself which of the two you want to use. This flexibility makes restores faster and compatible with a wider variety of hardware.
With this update, Acronis extends EDR protection to Linux workloads as well, adding to what was already offered for Windows and macOS. So, if suspicious files or processes are detected on your Linux servers, the system analyzes and classifies them using the MITRE ATT&CK framework, which is basically like a very comprehensive guide to understanding how attacks operate.
And not only does it detect them, it also gives you tools to respond immediately. Now you can:
Stop malicious processes
Quarantine files
Add files or processes to allowed or blocked lists
Recover files from a backup
Some more advanced features such as rollback, remote desktop or completely isolating the computer are not ready yet, but they are on their way. For now, it works on Ubuntu 22.04 and CentOS 7.x.
Another big announcement: Acronis now integrates with Fortinet, which is a real gem if you're already using their firewalls or networking solutions. This integration allows you to combine Fortinet telemetry with Acronis XDR capabilities to gain a more comprehensive view of what's happening on your network, detect threats faster, and respond accordingly.
Enrich incident data with URL reputation information and even block them if they're malicious.
Do the same with suspicious IP addresses.
Isolate devices from the Fortinet firewall—even if they're powered off or running on Windows, macOS, or Linux.
In short, you can now respond to threats from a single place and with much greater precision.
If you're using disaster recovery features, this update also brings improvements. Acronis now uses VPN gateways based on Rocky Linux 9 as the default option. This new foundation offers greater stability and regular security updates directly from the provider, so everything remains protected without you having to lift a finger.
Already using older gateways? No worries—everything will continue working as usual. But if you want to upgrade to this new version, all you need to do is reinstall the VPN gateway, and you're good to go.
Good news! It's now possible to communicate in real time between technicians and end users directly from the Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud console. This significantly speeds up issue resolution and improves the support experience for everyone involved. With this new feature, technicians can:
Initiate a chat with any end user without leaving the console.
Receive questions or requests in a unified inbox, keeping everything organized.
Transfer a conversation to another technician if someone with more expertise is needed.
Search for specific messages within a chat or across multiple chats.
Export the chat history to a text file if the conversation needs to be documented.
Access reports with the full history of all chat sessions.
This tool is already available for devices running Windows and macOS.
From this section, it is possible to initiate a chat with the client, allowing for faster and more efficient support in resolving incidents. (Source: TecnetOne)
Through the chat with the user, it is possible to manage the device, establish a remote connection, transfer files, and administer various system functions.
This is how the chat interface between the administrator and the user is presented.

With the new recurring tickets feature in Acronis PSA, technicians no longer have to remember tasks that need to be done periodically—they simply schedule them, and the system automatically creates the tickets.
This saves time and ensures that nothing important gets overlooked. For example, you can schedule:
A weekly ticket to review incident reports and send updates.
An annual ticket to renew domains or SSL certificates.
Monthly or quarterly reminders to provide client training.
There are also several ways to schedule these tickets:
Have a new ticket created when the previous one is closed.
A few days before the scheduled date.
All tickets at once, if you prefer to plan them in bulk.
Another very useful improvement is that you can now use the To, Cc, and Bcc fields in emails related to tickets. This makes it much easier to keep everyone involved informed, without having to manually forward emails.
Now, technicians can:
Add a colleague or supervisor in Cc or Bcc to keep them informed about the status of a ticket.
Reply to everyone who was copied in the email that generated the ticket.
See exactly who received which message, in case follow-up is needed.
And end users can also:
Copy their manager on the email when opening a ticket, so they are aware or can escalate the issue if needed.
Verify who else has received emails related to that ticket.
You can now view your usage of immutable storage directly from the Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud console. Just go to the Backup Storage > Immutable Storage section, where you'll find all the information clearly and neatly organized—ideal for keeping track without any hassle.
The process for registering new devices in Acronis has also been updated to be simpler and more transparent.
When you install the agent on a device and click "Register Device," a step-by-step wizard opens directly in the console. There, you can:
Choose which client or unit you want to register the device under.
Assign the plans to apply, such as protection, monitoring, or remote management.
See how much of your quota will be used and whether advanced features will be activated.
You can also make these selections later from Device Sense, during post-discovery configuration. Everything is designed to make the process smoother and save you time.
If you're a software developer who is part of the Acronis Technology Partner Program and have achieved Accelerated status, there’s great news: you can now give your integrations significantly more visibility.
With this new boost, your integrations can appear as "Featured" in the Integration Catalog on the cloud management portal—already accessed by over 5,000 Acronis partners around the world.
Publish your integration in a dedicated section of the catalog, with enhanced visibility.
Appear in key areas of the portal, making it easier for partners to discover what you offer.
A super practical way to reach more users and showcase the value of your solution.
